Iversun 6mg is an oral ivermectin product. The exact indication should be confirmed by a healthcare professional because approved uses differ between countries.

• Strongyloidiasis: U.S. ivermectin labeling includes intestinal, nondisseminated infection caused by Strongyloides stercoralis.

• Onchocerciasis: U.S. labeling includes river blindness caused by Onchocerca volvulus.

• Scabies: Australian oral ivermectin approvals include scabies; in the U.S., oral ivermectin is an off-label option described by CDC guidance.

• COVID-19: Ivermectin is not FDA-approved or authorized for prevention or treatment of COVID-19.

Ivermectin acts primarily on parasite nerve and muscle cells. It binds with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride channels found in invertebrates, increasing chloride-ion permeability and disrupting normal nerve and muscle activity. This can produce paralysis and death of susceptible parasites. Ivermectin does not act against every type or life stage of parasite; for example, it affects tissue microfilariae of Onchocerca volvulus but not adult worms. The medicine is metabolized mainly by the liver, with most ivermectin and metabolites eliminated in the feces.

Commonly reported effects can include:

• Dizziness or light-headedness

• Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

• Headache, tremor or sleepiness

• Rash, itching or hives

Ivermectin may rarely increase the INR in people taking warfarin, so anticoagulation monitoring may be needed. People being treated for onchocerciasis can also experience inflammatory reactions related to dying microfilariae, including eye symptoms, swelling, fever or joint symptoms. Seek medical attention for severe rash, confusion, marked drowsiness, seizures, breathing difficulty or other serious reactions.

Iversun 6mg should not be used by anyone with a known hypersensitivity to ivermectin or any ingredient in the product. Safety and effectiveness have not been established in children weighing less than 15 kg. Pregnancy requires particular caution because adequate controlled human safety data are lacking; breastfeeding treatment should be discussed with a healthcare professional. Older adults and people with significant liver, kidney or cardiac disease may require additional clinical consideration.

People with significant exposure to Loa loa in West or Central Africa should tell their clinician before ivermectin treatment. In heavily infected individuals, serious neurological reactions can occur after treatment. Ivermectin can also interact with medicines such as warfarin.

Do not use excessive doses or veterinary ivermectin products. Ivermectin has not been approved by the FDA for COVID-19 treatment or prevention, and large doses can cause serious toxicity.
