Flodart Plus Capsule is a prescription medication used to treat symptoms of enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Each capsule contains a combination of Tamsulosin 0.4mg and Dutasteride 0.5mg, which work together to relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, and shrink the prostate, improving urinary flow and reducing symptoms like urinary frequency, urgency, and weak stream. This medication is taken once daily and may take several weeks to see the full benefits.
Flodart Plus Capsule (Tamsulosin 0.4/Dutasteride 0.5)
To effectively treat the symptoms of BPH, Flodart Plus combines the effects of Dutasteride and Tamsulosin. The alpha-blocker tamsulosin functions by calming the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck. As a result of this relaxation, urinary symptoms such frequent urination, urgency, weak stream, and difficulties starting and ending urination are reduced.
On the other hand, dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that promotes prostate expansion, is inhibited in order for it to work. As the prostate gland gradually shrinks as a result of Dutasteride’s ability to prevent the conversion of testosterone to DHT, urinary symptoms are further improved.
